“Where words fail, music speaks.” ― Hans Christian Andersen
The Clark-Pleasant Middle School Choirs meet daily during school hours. There are currently 6 sections of choir. Beginning choir has two mixed classes that meet during their FIT time. 7th & 8th grade each of a mixed class and an all-women's class. Students can join choir at any point in their middle school career. They do not need any prior singing experience or private lessons! So if a student wasn't in choir in 6th grade, they can join in 7th or 8th grade.
Being a part of the choir means being a part of a group of individuals who enjoy making great music together! We are very much like a family! Please consider joining the amazingly talented students in the CPMS Choir Department!
6th Grade Choir
Beginning choir performs at two concerts during the school year. They perform at the Winter and Spring Concerts which are announced at the beginning of the school year. They also perform a Recruitment Concert for the 5th graders in the Spring to help those students choose whether they would also like to pursue choir or band in middle school. This concert takes place during school hours. Students are required to purchase a choir t-shirt for $10 in the spring for their Recruitment and Spring Concerts. This is the only extra fee students pay to participate in everyday choir!
7th & 8th Grade Choir
7th and 8th grade choir perform at three times outside of school. They perform at the Winter & Spring Concerts as well as compete in the ISSMA Choir Competition that takes place in March every year. Students can also choose to participate in Solo & Ensemble competition in February if they would like. that takes place in February. Students will wear their choir shirts they purchased in 6th grade for the Spring Concert every year. They are welcome to purchase a new one if they out grow or lose their original.
Other Choir Related Opportunities
All students have the opportunity to audition for either the school musical or the show choir each year. Last year we put on our production of "High School Musical, Jr." and it was a HUGE success! In years past, students can choose to participate in Circle the State with Song, Honor Choir, Solo & Ensemble, and more!
Student Testimonials:
"What I love about being in choir are the bonds you make, not just with the students but with the teachers too. You create a special bond with almost everyone in the room. All the students have something in common and we all talk about the songs and choices we make while singing them. Mrs.Billingsly creates a safe, fun, and comfortable environment for all of her students. Being in choir is more than just singing, it's a way to make friends."- Mackenzie McKinney 6th Grade
